Not  counting clothes and shoes how much do you typically budget or spend on back to school supplies?

I don't really have a budget, I just try and get the best deals for whatever they need.

Maybe $20 total for all 3 kids. That is just thier supply list. I also dont' send in tissues or clorox wipes until Jan. All the teachers do is store that stuff so i wait until they have used some of what they have first.

by the loks of the lists they have that HAVE to be bought( all name brand...generic they will not let them use it)...$40-50 EACH kid.

Not sure because some is bought for pennies at office supply stores when they have sales, and some stuff is leftover from last year as well.  With 4 in school though, I bet around $50+ for supplies.

I would say for all three kids it's going to cost me around $25-$30 to get their lists done. The kindergarten list is insane.

About $30 for both of the kids basic supplies. I do have to buy DS a laptop this year so that is going to cost $$.

OK How much did I spend

Needed Supplies 7:72

Opted for the new backpack although her old one would have lasted half the year 12.88 including lunch bag

Got us new art supplies Markers and paint 2.50

Got the family some new desk supplies pens, pencils, tape, notebooks $4

A bike lock and a helmet (for me) so we can bike ride to school $22

The first grade list was really pretty short.

I am still new at the supplies shopping I did mine yesterday. Oh she still wears all had me downs from her cousin so we are outfitted too.

Honestly we dont have a budget. We just get him what he needs.Usually it's not that bad.But I do have friends with kids that attend the local public and charter school here and they say their list can get pretty long.I guess we are blessed.

Too much! I haven't bought school supplies for the elementary ones for years, they used to be provided. I just bought everything except tissues on my 4 th graders list and it was ove $30 !!!! 7th grader needs a new backpack and a TI 83 calculator ($88). Plus I have to buy folders and spirals for the 7th, 8th and 9th graders. I already paid marching band fees for the ninth grader ($160). I still need to pay instrument rental ($116). School soccer for 7th and 9th grader I'll be ($500) plus misc expenses. Not sure what kind of band fees there are for 7th grade percussion. frown.gif
