50 shades of Grey was not as pornographic as I thought LOL

I really liked it, but I like the actual love story part and not all the "other" stuff! When the librarian gave it to me she said your actually just reading pornography! Yes it was graphic but not as much as I was starting to believe before I read it, make sense to those who have read it? I think there was way to much hype even though I did like it

It's all relative. If you think a Christian romance novel is scandalous than Fifty Shades is hard core porn. ROTF.gif

I like to read smut occasionally. However I did not like these books. I thought they were horrible written and soooooo predictable. If I had to hear about her inner goddess one more time I thought I would scream.

A better name for the book would be "Porn for Dummies" rolleyes.gif A horny teenager kid could have written it.

I read it too.  I agree it was not well written, but I finished it so it couldn't have been all that bad!  I didn't think the sex scenes were that pornographic, plus you had to get close to 100 pages in to get to the first one!  I think it's the "Submissive" and "Dominant" storyline that is getting the attention.  Who knows, this isn't my normal genre.  I just read it out of curiosity.

That's why I read it too, and I must be the only one who thought it was well written LOL, I don't know why others have said it's not. I agree with Dee though the whole inner goddess thing was really annoying!

I haven't read it, but you ARE the first person I've heard say it was well written LOL. Even people who like it usually admit it's written like crap.

I was more into the story line not so much about the other stuff and I did not find it as bad as it was made out to be. It was not the best written book but in all honesty not the worst written one I have ever read either.

Yes, highly annoying.  And referring to her lady parts as her "sex" all the time... ugh!

Okay, so the more I'm hearing about this book the less I want to read it. I regret I caved and read "Eat, Pray, Love" so I think I've learned my lesson.

So why are these kinds of books so popular? Is this really how the majority of American women think?

I enjoyed Eat, Pray, Love.  That book was well-written (at least I thought so). You can't compare the two - they're NOTHING alike.
