DD11 only went a few months while I was a preschool teacher/director. I ended up vacating the position and pulling her out of the program because of my boss. She struggles even now. DS4 went last year and will go this year. I think he is a kid who needs it. DD3 knows more than DS for sure. She can count to 20, he can count to 10. She can spell her name, he can't. We work on these things together and he worked on them at school. There are so many more things they need to know before preschool. If you can't recognize adn write all of your letters and numbers, know all the sounds of the letters, recognize all shapes and colors, write your name, recite your adress adn phone number as well as know how to sit/listen/share you are screwed. DD brought home spelling words her first day of kindergarten! She wasn't prepared. She quickly fell behind in reading. Learning to add and subtract was a challenge. DS needs 2 yrs. DD3 could do with one but will go 2.
