what's the longest you've gone without a period?

Not counting immediately after baby boy was born, I didn't have one from Dec 2008 to July 2011.  Between pregnancy and breastfeeding, and I had an IUD which stops them for a lot of women.  I know women with IUDs who have gone years and years.

If you're talking naturally not having one, then probably less than 40 days for me!

So you're going to your doctor, right? If you don't know why you're not having a period, then you probably want to get checked, just in case.

I didn't have a period for 2 1/2-3 years when I was 17-19. I was just thin and so physically active and busy at the time they just stopped. I wasn't having sex so when I missed the first one I just thought it was odd, after missing a few I went in to the doctors and they just checked some bloodwork which was fine and told me to eat more haha

Just during the time I was pregnant with dd.  Six weeks after I had her, my period returned (oh joy ).  I've had some periods run late, but I've never skipped one outside of pregnancy.

I really don't know if periods are medically necessary or not.  I had a friend who was having issues with missed periods and her doctor kept giving her medication for her to have a period.  He would feel around her parts and tell her she needed to have a "good bleed" (doctor's words).  Eventually my friend had some other issues develop and she ended up having a hysterectomy.

Pregnacy for me too.  However, now that I'm reaching 50, I will go a few months without having one.

I haven't had a period since my daughter was born 2 years ago.  I have an IUD and I love that that is one of the side effects of it!
