Special Activities

Do you have your toddler/preschooler enrolled in special activities? Like soccar, t-ball, etc.

We had Ds in Karate for awhile and he showed almost no interest in it, excpet when we were in class. He did not want to practice outside of class so his improvement was slower then the other kids. Next we tried swimming lessons, he did make some small amounts  improvement and this fall I am thinking of signing him up again. My sister wants to sign him up for fall soccar, which i think the running around would be good but I am not sure about him doing both.

My kids started swimming lessons on Monday.  I've never had them in anything else, though I've wanted to do gymnastics or dance or something for M.  I am planning to start teaching her piano soon, but I have to order a pre-reader book.

I would love for Ds to learn the piano. My mom has one that need some tuning. I am thinking next year posting an ad up at school looking for a student to teach him, maybe at a discount. LOL!

DD does piano. We also had her in a week long tennis camp, which was last week, and next month she will start soccer.

I try to keep her activities of no more than two at a time but sometimes things overlap.

DS is currently doing t-ball and also did tennis camp and soccer next month.

For him I try to keep his activities one at a time thigh, again, sometimes they overlap.

My philosophy was to expose DD to as much as I could - sports, clubs, music, gymnastics / dance - when she was very young. As they get older, school takes up so much of their time then homework takes over their afternoons. Their ability to do after school activities becomes limited. You have to start picking and choosing.

By far the best activity we got DD into was gymnastics. She will never be Olympics bound, but I could see her gymnastics techniques in so many other activities - dance, cheer, sports, school work, even music.

my 3 yr old does gymnastics and dance and really wants to do tball (but it started the day after my edd so I did not sign her up)

I agree with cookie about gymnastics (tho my older girls never gave it up, they are on team now) I have seen so much good with the stretching and

movement and also learning how to follow rules.

and Dance she gets the music and movement there
