Isn't it just common sense to wash your hands before you hold a baby?

Do you or did you make people wash their hands before they hold your baby? I do, I had a baby with RSV at 5 weeks because sick people felt the need to be around my son (we lived with dh's parents at the time and could not exactly tell them they couldn't come over) and I don't EVER want to deal with that again. People sometimes get offended but I don't know why!

If you've had kids, yes itnis common sense, but for the population that is child free, I don't think it is automatically something they think about.

My sil kept a box of wipes & bottle of hand sanitizer by the door she she had babies, so everyone coming in could at least take that precaution if they didn't go wash up first.
