Anyone have kids going into kindergarten for the first time? - Page 2

My youngest will be starting Kindergarten this year. She was in all day Pre-K at the same school last year, so we aren't too anxious about it. I have a hard time with school in general as I would love to just have my girls home with me all day, everyday smile.gif

DD is going to KDG this year.  I never thought I would have a hard time sending her to school but I just want to cry!  I feel like I have no clue how to handle DS after she goes.  I'm so used to the two of them being together and entertaining each other.  It will be a hard adjustment!

We had a hard time with this when my oldest started school (there is 5 years difference in age). My youngest would cry and all day she would ask when we could get Lilli. Then Lilli would get home and be too tired from school to play with her sister, who had waited all day for her to get home. Playgroup and playdates helped, but she just really missed her sister. This was my main reason for putting my youngest in all day Pre-K last year. Now things are better. They both come home and are mellow from being at school all day and they are back to their normal fun-loving selves.

I hope the transition is easier for your littles, I just wanted to tell you about our experience so you can plan ahead if needed. Hugs.

First grade is still a big deal for us. Half day is a joke they go and they come back before you can blink. OK she did learn a lot. Honestly it was riding the bus that I was the most anxious about (with good reason). Happy to be walkers this year. Still this is the first time she will be in school all day long.

My last one is heading off to kindergarten. I'm not anxious because she is excited and loves to learn. She went to our school for 4 year old preschool 2 days a week last year and it was all day and she loved it. So i'm excited for her and her new adventure!

Ds is starting K, again. He is a May bday, so we started him last year, but after a week we were already having conferences about how he was not emotionally ready and too immature. He is physically small and a late bloomer, so it has been the best choice for him. This year, we are definitely ready, it's amazing how much he's grown and matured.

DS2 starts kindergarten this year.  It's only 1/2 day here so we're not too worried.  He's really excited to ride the bus to and from school though and come home with his brother.
