What did you do this week to save money?

This evening we are going to the library for a craft for my older dd making wallets out of duct tape. Then we will eat for free at a place in the mall thanks to coupons.

I have a coupon to pick out a free book from the library book nook as well.

Tuesday we are going to the swim banquet so we will eat for free there as well.

We traveled to a town 6 hours away to visit with family and friends so we filled our van with people (family/friends) who wanted to come and everyone chipped in on gas. I filled a cooler with snacks and drinks so we only stopped for gas and bathroom breaks. Each day I took toiletries from hotel room so now I've got extras at home. We took advantage of the hotel's complimentary breakfast, and combined room so that each spot in every bed was taken! We also took advantage of all the free events going on around town. We used cruise control when we could to help save on gas.

GAS

I stayed home with the exception of Ballet and a trip to the closest grocery store. I say not spending $50 to fill up was a savings though not one that is easily seen. The last time I fueled up my car was July 8th for me 2 1/2 weeks is a awesome length of time to go. I will need to fill up on Wednesday.

I am in MAJOR budget mode.  We have been off the wagon for quite a while, and I am on a mission,.  Feeling uber-guilty.   Today, I managed to make a menu, AND get groceries for the week, that were under $60 - oh, plus a bottle of wine.  LOL ;)

I MUST get our grocery budge under control.  It is ridiculous and just wasteful.

I am on a "no-dryer" strike to save on electric since we are using the AC. So line-drying or air drying on the indoor wooden drying rack.

I fired up the grill tonight and cooked steaks (bought on sale several weeks ago), cheeseburgers, and hotdogs. Enough meat for at least 3 dinners and 2 or 3 lunches as well. (cooking in bulk on grill saves on charcoal and cooking outside keeps the house from heating up). We will add salad or veggies and fruit and we have a quick, easy and healthy meal smile.gif

The local beach or park is where we will spend our free time.

Playing Wii, playing board games, doing puzzles, reading out loud, and watching borrowed DVD's (Little House on the Prairie) is how we will spend our days when it's too hot to play outside. I am blessed that the girls play well together, so they spend a lot of time playing together with the Barbie House or Littlest Pet Shops, etc.

Sticking close to home to save on gas.

Stayed in at lunch instead of shopping.  You don't know how hard that is for me!
