News reported last night that food prices will go up an estimated 5% across the board due to the drought/heat.

If your budget allows and you have space available take time to stock up on items in your pantry.

I would have suspected an average increase higher than that.

I think they will go higher as well when you factor in the fact that the price of  gas will go up because of the corn crops affecting ethanol prices. So not only will we be paying more for the actual food I think we will pay more for the transportation of that food.

I am still trying to figure out why we still use ethanol in the gas...

Back to the subject..  The farmer where we get our beef and pigs grows his own food for the animals and he does not expect to charge us that much more for the animals because we have been using him so long..

I think I will have no choice but to pay..  My family had better get use to generic and store brand though..

I think it will be higher than 5% too.  Not sure if it will really change anyone's eating habits though.

I also think it will be upwards of 10% plus also gas will rise. I will be re-evaluating our grocery budget it has already had a jump in the last year and a half.
