DD's 9th bday party is in September and she wants a Greek God bday theme, first year without dinosaurs and yes, only my daughter. Lol.

Anyone have good ideas? Any ideas?

food grapes, mac n cheese, cesar salad.

You could make vine halos for them to wear.

treasure hunt.

little ceasar's pizza.

plan some sort of game that has a greek theme. Like maybe divide the kids into 2 teams, have one kid stand still & be the statue & the other kids have to hurredly wrap her up in a toga with a vine crown - whoever gets it on correctly first wins.

Take cardboard and make a cone out of it with red and yellow fake flames out of construction paper and glue around the edges of the cone.. Then go to the $$ tree and get glow sticks or even a small flaselight and put in the middle of the cone for torches. This will be cheap and make great gifts for the kids to take home.

I would also serve grapes and different kinds of cheese and crackers. Serve grape juice.

Lots of white and blue with gold tossed in. Clouds and thunder bolts. I'd do cubed cheeses instead of MacNCheese. Olives, cherry tomatoes and cucumbers. Kabobs (food on a stick). Humus. The ice cream with the cake should be frozen yogurt. For a craft they can do the "crown" made of leaves - look for gold leaves on a wire in the wedding supplies. I like a treasure hunt or have a mini-olympics: who is swiftest, strongest, etc.

If you have tiki torches, wrap them in gold foil so they look like Olympic flames. Make a chariot from a cardboard box and use that as a place to take pictures of every kid then send those in the thank you notes.

Invitations can be put on thin paper and rolled like a scroll and tied with a ribbon.

Found some cute ideas here:

Thank you for some great ideas. When she mentioned this I was like what the heck am I going to do? Still sounds like there is going to be a lot of prep work on this one. Dang kid. Hope no one steals my car this time around ... though I probably won't store the supplies in the car anymore.

Not having a "ride the ducks party???" ;)

Find the meaning of Greek/latin name for each kid.  Or write each of them as Goddess "name" in their invites.

Serve greek yogurt, pita bread.  Some costcos carry frozen spanakopita(sp??) and even baklava.

Party city or oriental trading will have costumes for Greek gods, get the for yourself, dh and the boys too.

http://www.orientaltrading.com/api/search?Ntt=greek  the greek earring project sounds good too for little girls.

Blame Percy Jackson. smile.gif Which is good. For the past four years it has been Dino themed and I was running out of ideas.

I am thinking ...
Togas, made out of sheets. No there won't be a beer keg in the center of the lawn. Lol. It is September and still warm enough for the girls to wear shorts and t-shirts under their togas. And I can find sheets.

The earring craft. DD just got her ears pierced so that will be perfect. Most of her friends have pierced ears and for the ones that don't I will just track down those clipons to turn pierced earring into clipons.

For an Aphrodite table, I am setting up someone to do their nails. Hope to find some teenage girl with fancy painting skills.

I like the statute freeze tag, and there are so many decoration ideas ... this may be a blast.
