Why do you think that is?

I am currently going for my BSN and the state I live in it is not a requirement but you will get the job over an RN. I am going to go for my practitioner also.

I've known some nurses who were promoted and wanted to return to the position held before because they made more in overtime, shift diff., etc.  The management positions were salaried.

That's true. When I was a manager of a 42 bed neuro unit I was salaried. My day shift supervisor often made more than me because she worked TONS of overtime. I also worked probably 60 hours per week either at the hospital or at home, but was still just straight salary. I wasn't interested just in the salary though. At that time (before kids) I was on track to become a nursing director so was aiming for that.
