Something that bugs me about Pinterest

Is when people put "pin now, read later" in the pin description.  It sounds like such self-promotion!   "just repin without actually clicking! Spread my pin around!"  I'm probably reading way too much into it.

Are there any little things like this that bother you on Pinterest?

I have not seen pins like that.  I would for sure take that off if I repinned it.  One thing that bugs me on Pinterest is when people put personal things on the pin and then I forget to remove it when I repin it.  Like someone says, "This would be perfect for my wedding."  Nope I am not planning a wedding, just forgot to rewrite the pin. LOL

My Pinterest account was hacked into recently, someone was posting all kind of business opportunities and I hated that!  Pinterest even locked me out of the account due to the suspicious activity.  They knew it wasn't me doing it, so they locked the account to get whoever was in it off.  Then I just had to make a new password when they unlocked it.

They don't bother me too much, the ones I have come across with that on it usually are really long posts (ie, 1 million and 1 uses for vinegar smile.gif ).

The ones that DO bug the HECK out of me, are promotions through their blog for something on another site. For example one that I 'follow' b/c she used to have good pins, is now pinning a ton of 'Bic is giving the away" or "enter this freebie giveaway". I'm thinking of breaking up with her...I don't want to see out right promotions from a site. I want to see something to draw me to the site- KWIM?

That happened to me, too. I think I saw that on yours, it was the same post. I deleted them and changed my password.

You could see if there's a certain board she's posting them on and unfollow just that board.

I guess that would have been the smart thing to do, now at least I know.  Another friend of mine got her account hacked, so I think that is how they got me.

I did unfollow the one board she usually posts them on but now she puts them all on another board that has tips & tricks on it and there ARE some good tips...I guess when it frustrates me enough I'll unfollow that one too frown.gif

What bugs me is that there are several coupon sites that have started pinning coupons and deals.  That's not what Pinterest was intended for!  When I see that, I unfollow.

It also bugs me when people repin my stuff, or posts from Mommysavers, and then type the whole tip or recipe in the text box.  It takes away the need to click through.

I know what you mean, and I thought Pinterest had changed that so you only got so many characters to type in the description, but I guess it is still enough.

I saw a similar one today that said, "you'll be sad you didn't pin it."  That was a little too much like a chain letter for me!

Do you think people do this for self-promotion (their own pin), or are they just repinning and reminding themselves to go back and read it later?   I thought it was the latter.
