Do any districts still have half day kindergarten?

When my oldest two went to kindergarten they went to half day kindergarten, but that was many years ago (they are 26 and 22). My third child did not attend kindergarten at all, children #4-6 did all day, every other day kindergarten and the little one and my grandson did all day, every day kindergarten. I definitely would not be happy if our district did half days now.

ours is half-day. I wouldn't want to go straight to full time after just doing 9 hours/week preschool.

I've only seen half day kindergarten at the public schools here, we just get an am crowd and a pm crowd. It helps to keep the class sizes much smaller and the kids don't get overtired which is good. I'm not going to send them to school to sleep wink.gif. I know that some of the private and montessori schools have full day though (many only have full day).

DD's kindergarten was the last class to go half a day. She will be in third grade now.

Our district does not have enough money, nor the room to accomdate a full day kindergarten.  Its on the wish list, but not possible at this time.

Having worked in. Kindergarten cass last year, I can't imagine having enough time to get through everything in a half day! Heck, we had trouble covering everything in a whole day. We did 2 hours of reading, an hour of math, art, music, Spanish, gym, science, social, character as well as misc projects.

They cover what we call 'specials' once a week.  The focus is on math and reading, they get that every day.  Science is intergrated into those 2 subjects.  They only go to school for 3 hours, so they get music, phys ed, and art once a week.

Our public schools around here are full day kindergarten.

Ours are full day though there is a half day/4x a week ELP (early learning program) which is essentially a 4k.
