Our trip to the free DC museums. - Page 2

Sounds like it was still a great time, despite the money put out. I'd also love to go again--maybe without the kids.  I haven't been since I was 10!

We did that last summer as well, it ended up being a day trip as most of our trip was spent in Baltimore.  But we planned one day to do
DC.  Boy did we wish we had put aside MORE time.  We stayed in College Park at the Holiday Inn, and we did as many frugal breakfast and lunch things as we could find to save money.  We did splurge once on  dinner at Joes Crab Shack, but the rest of the time was cheap! LOL

It is costly to get there but oh so much fun!!! We took our Youth Group last summer, we worked in a soup kitchen for 3 days and spent our free time checking out the sites. We found it was much easier to ride the metro in as we stayed out of the city than to keep 3 vans together and find enough parking. (we did that one day and it was a disaster)

We want to go back again as a family. My dd loved it, she is a history buff, she was upset that we couldn't spend more time doing the sites but with 15 other people it was difficult.

I keep trying to get my dh to make washington a stop for a day or two on one of our trips to visit family back in NY - that drive is so long I'm always open to making it a two day trip and stopping in washington to site see.  He never wants to do it...bummer.  I know there is sooo much we could do - it would be great for the kids.
