Grrr a renter left their kitty behind - Page 2

Sounds like a keeper to me. Is it a covered litter box? Many cats don't like boxes with covers, and many don't like "scented" litter. So, if he's not using the box still, he might have a urinary tract infection.

One of our cats is litter trained, but he prefers to go outside & will cry and cry to go out. If we don't let him out when he cries like that, he will purposely pee somewhere inappropriate, like the bed, sofa, or dining room table. He has us trained to put him out at like 5am when he starts crying at us.

I think he is too. He is now my husband's smoking buddy. Curls up on his lap on the porch.

Calamari you can have him if you would like. wink.gif I live in Michigan too.

I appreciate the thought, but we just spent $600 on urinalysis and Rx refills for our 2 black & whites. And, honestly, I'm not a fan of the orange variety. So - he's all yours!

Yes he is for now. We plan on taking him to the vet today. We are lucky with have an excellent but inexpensive animal hospital by us. We are getting him a rabies shot and a well check today. Our indoor cat is going to get her rabies booster and all of the cat virus shots to protect her from the outdoor cat. If we decide to keep him for good we will get the rest of the shots for him.

My daughter got a very scared orange tabby to come out from a fenced in storage area next to our garage. He is a sweety but obviously an indoor cat that was dumped outside right before they left. We posted some lost cat posting online and called a near by vet but I don't think anyone is looking for him. They took the time to neuter him but not the time to find him a new home. He is so pretty with yellow eyes and tabby swirls.

We are calling him Lucky. We plan to put food and water out for him and give him a little love each day. If we don't find his home we will try to find a good one for him and take him to the vet for a well check. Poor little guy.

I once obtained an orange tabby named Lucky in a similar manner. My neighbor left him behind when she moved back in with the guy who, a few months before, had hit her in the head with a skillet.

Silly boy went missing for awhile today so he did not get to the vet. He got stuck in a bush in the backyard and dd pulled him out. We have him back on the porch. I finally got him to use the litter box by putting one of my indoor cat's poops in the box. He then covered it and came back later for a tinkle. We also got him a tag for his collar with his name (Lucky Kitty), street address and phone number.

Sent my dh a text with his picture and he said he is going to miss him.

I think he will be using the litter box within a day or so. Then we might try to find him a home.

I have such a soft spot for abandoned animals! I can't believe people still do this when they move. Just simply heartbreaking. Good luck on finding him a home!!

I think he has our home as a porch cat. He does not wander and stays in our yard. If I know my husband the cat will move in the house on the first chilly night.

I'm glad you are taking him to the vet before bringing him into your house with your other cats.  Make sure they do a feline leukemia test before he is around your cats.  I learned that the hard way when I took a cat from a co-worker.  He had it and ended up giving it to my cat.  It was the saddest thing, I had to put that cat down and then had to wait for my cat to get sick which happened in a year.
