How early is too early?

8 sounds reasonable to me. 

8 is probably the earliest I would go.

I would be ticked at anyone mowing before 8am. 8 am would just irritate me - I prefer after 9. Around here, lawn services generally don't show up until 8. Your town might also have a noise ordinance in effect during certain hours.

You don't want to mow when the grass is wet, so I usually don't mow in the morning when it has dew on it. Although if it's crazy hot you don't necessarily have to worry about that. I also don't mow later in the morning-early afternoon when the sun is high because it'll burn. So basically I just only mow in the evenings haha

 

I don't really concern myself about other people and their chores. Who am I to know what schedule someone does or doesn't have. Maybe they can only mow in the morning, so people will complain about the noise but they'd also complain if their yard was unsightly. Just do what you have to do. We've been going out to the garage at 6:30 am with nailguns and saws blazing, and people shoot off fireworks at 10pm. People have lives, I don't expect silence.

I don't think 8 is too early and I sleep in.

I wouldn't mow before 8 am and I don't let the boys play basketball until after 10 pm during the summer and 9 pm once school starts.

During the really hot parts of summer a lot of people in my neighborhood get out and mow at 7am. I am with Karen people all have different schedules. Our call the cops rule is 11pm on the week nights and mid-night on weekends. I have a neighbor who mows his grass at 10pm because he works two jobs and that is the time in between when he is home to do it.
 

I would not mow or make any kind of noise like that before 8:00 M-Sat.  Sunday I'd wait until 9:00 am.

This is me too. I would be cranky if someone woke me up too early to mow. I wouldn't say or do anything, but I'd be cranky. If people were mowing before 8AM I would think they were inconsiderate. My DH always gets up early, but he usually waits until at LEAST 9AM to mow on weekends.
