How early is too early? - Page 2

I am an after 8 person--9 being even better.  I am up early, but my kids aren't.  I like to respect the fact that some people may sleep a bit later, especially on the weekend.

I think here the "law?" or noise ordinance (or maybe the HOA - LOL) is for 10 just on Sunday and your discretion for noise either in the morning or late at night.  While I would not complain that 8 is early - its really not that much different than 9 which is when most people are off to work during the week anyway.

I like the sound of a lawn mower so even at 6am it wouldn't bug me.  My neighbor has really funny hours and he is out there at 10pm mowing in the dark.

I think each of us knows our neghborhood the best. For me, I could mow or operate loud machinery just about any time of the day or night and it really wouldn't bother anyone. If I was out mowing at 6am during the summer, I'd probably see my neighbors out there ... and they'd be half done.

I also think it is more okay to start a little earlier on the weekdays instead of the weekends. On a weekday most people are up and about anyway. This is especially true in the area where I live since so many people leave for work very early. Hubby is up at 4:30am and leaves before the sun is up. That is pretty normal around here. For many people, Saturday is the only morning they can sleep in, so I'd start a little later on a weekend.

And BTW, I'm not a morning person.

Around here it is always hot. My elderly neighbor was out mowing mid-day just last week. He got stuck in a ditch and I went outside to help him push his mower. I suggested that maybe he get a drink of water. I was afraid he was going to get heat stroke.

8 am sounds fine to me.

DH mows at 6am BUT we have a push mower so we do not disturb anyone with ours.

Thank goodness we live in the country.  Anything is fair game.  dh usually waits for the grass to dry.  The girls are up early so its fine.

8 is ok, but 9 a.m. sounds about right to me.

People in my neighborhood, including me, start as early as 6:30, especially on weekends. I have to be at work at 7 on weekdays - mowing anytime except the weekend isn't possible for me.. By 8, the temp here is already in the 80's. By 10, it's in the 90's. I love the heat, but that's too hot for me to wrok in. Sunbathe, yes. Mow grass, no.
