Threatening to Cancel Dish

Have you ever called in to Dish Network or any other cable provider and threatened to cancel if you didn't get a better deal.  I was checking out their website, and for new customers, it's a steal right now!  We are paying $25 more a month for our package than what new customers get it for.  Plus they've got a much better DVR system now.

 

Has anyone ever gotten a "new customer" promotion as an existing customer?  I'm just curious if we can get a better deal.

Yup, sure have. Done it with both satellite and internet actually. Plan on calling Frontier tomorrow. I owe 2 months and they want to shut off. I am going to call and cancel or ask if they can work with me. Comcast once forgave 50% of my bill just to keep me as a customer.

I did with our cable company. They gave me a better deal, although it wasn't as good as a deal, that the new customers got.

 

But hey, anything is better than full price.

That's great!  I think I will try calling Dish to see what they can do for me.  I also thought about calling and saying I want to cancel.  Then turning right around and putting it under my name to get the "new customer" deals. 

 

Thanks for the info though!  I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet, but glad to hear of the success you've had!

I have a friend that did this. She cancelled the plan under her dh's name and then called and signed up as a new customer using her maiden name. It worked out fine.
