Squeaky Kid's Shoes at a Wedding

Yah or nay?

I totally forgot about the two little girls who were at J's wedding.  They arrived late at the church after everyone was seated and MIL and I were to be escorted to our seats.  You could hear their sneakers squeak with each step they took up the aisle as they made their way to their own seats.  (The sneakerrs were intentionally made to squeak.)   My anxiety level was very high at this point and my jaw just dropped that parents actually dressed these girls in these shoes for a wedding.  What were they thinking?  I just pictured them stomping their feet when J said her vows.   Well, they came back down the aisle squeaking to use the restroom and I about lost it.  The wedding planner for the church was there and she looked at me and simply said, "I'll take care of it."  I don't know what she said to the dad, but I didn't hear them the rest of the ceremony.  And at the reception, I noticed they had on different shoes.

I would not have minded them wearing the shoes at the reception and would have thought it was cute as they danced.  However, I draw the line at wearing them in a church.  I found out later that J invited the family--she babysits the two little girls (who are twins).  She it was probably the only way the parents could get them to come.

What do you think?  Did I over-react?  (Of course, now I can laugh about it.)

At least they weren't screaming and crying.

Squeaky shoes wouldn't bother me, because they only walk in and then walk out. But sometimes with crying it goes on and on and on and on.

I find those squeaky shoes annoying and tacky for a wedding. I can picture a parent just putting them on, but then I would carry my child to the seat so others wouldn't have to listen to them.

But I think with what Diane was saying, they weren't just sitting, and everytime they stood up (as little kids do, esp when theya re bored in church) they squeaked.  Yes that would have driven me NUTS!!  But truthfully, it doesn't take alot these days to have something make me a little crazy.  And yes I  agree, squeaking shoes to a church wedding??  What are the parents thinking?

whoops, I didn't' read that part.

Yep, if it was disturbing people while the wedding was going on, yes that is bad.

Why would someone are something make she's that squeak. They can't wear those things to school either, I would hope. Especially since they came in late, the should not be allowed to walk around the wedding.

I didn't know they made intentionally squeaky shoes. Those would drive me insane under normal circumstances and I'd never buy them for my kids, nevermind letting them wear obnoxious clothing to a ceremony.

What happened to the old school light up shoes?

A case of parents who just didn't think, though you would think they would have had them removed in the church and the girls run around sock footed, or parents who are completely self-centered they thought it would be "cute" to have their girls make a lot of noise at the wedding.
