Non-stick pans

Thread Starter

So 6 years ago I bought a set of stainless pans, it came with a very nice non-stick fry pan. I use it all the time, and the non stick is finally starting to come off.frown.gif I have looked at the ones at Walmart and they seem lightweight and cheap. I also cannot find this one anywhere. Any recommendations for a good quality non-stick frying pan at reasonable price. I bought the entire set for $80 so I don't want to spend that on one pan. LOL!

I have a Calphalon one from Target I really like.  I got it on sale around Christmas time.

A well-seasoned cast iron skillet is the best non-stick cookware there is.

I agree. I love mine and they last forever. Well worth the investment over the weird coated things that you would have to buy 10 times over anyway.

One of mine belonged to my grandmother and is older than I am. You won't find anything coated with some sort of squinky polymer that will last that long.

I have non-stick pans, but they were pretty expensive.  My advice would be the Calphalon ones.  I've heard good things about them.

My sister actually bought me a $40 set of nonstick pots and pans 3 1/2 yrs ago from Walmart. They are still as good today as they were back then. I just take care of them. No metal spoons or whisks, no scratch pads for cleaning, dry with soft towel and I "seasoned" them before first use.

I agree, they don't have to be expensive to be good. When we got married (more then 27 years ago) we bought a set of pots for about $40. We used them until about two years ago when we replaced them with a $60 set from Target.

I also suggest getting a cast iron skillet. Once it is seasoned well and you learn how to care for it, it works just as well as a non stick pan without the creepy coating. It took a while to get the hang of it, but it's all I use for eggs now.

I love my cast iron skillet. You can sometimes find them at yard sales which is where my big one came.
