Do you try the fruit out before you buy it

I bought 3 lbs of cherries yesterday. They were horrible. So this morning I took them back to Publix. The Lady at the front desk told me to eat two or three to pick out a good bag. I told her I felt funny doing that and she said "Oh no, we encourage people to do just that" So when I pick out some and brought them back up front, she ask me if I had tried some out of that bag.

Wonder what they would do, if I sample the bananas!!!LOL

There is no way I would do that. First of all, I don't eat fruit before washing it first. Second, I would feel stupid if someone saw me doing it.

I'll try a grape off the bunch, just to be sure. I've never done that with cherries and certainly not with any other fruit. But, I also would have taken them back if they were bad.

This is me too. The most important reason is I would NEVER eat fruit that hasn't been washed. The idea makes my skin crawl.

IMO that would be stealing. That fruit is sold by weight and if everyone sampled even 1 cherry in a day that would add up to at least a pound or more. Plus they aren't washed.

I agree!

I would also feel like it was stealing.  So no, I wouldn't do it either.

That's how I see it too.

No, that's the risk you have to take in picking out fruit! I'm happy just to get something that's not moldy.
