Yesterday I had one. DS and I were kayaking, small lake in our area. And he and I had gone across the lake to check out some rocks he wanted to climb, which seemed like a good idea until I realized I was wearing flip flops and they were wet and slippery.

After we climbed back down and started returning to the dock, I noticed a tree hanging over the lake and a bird with a white head sitting on top of it. A bald eagle! One of my big dreams in life is to get a good picture of a bald eagled ... of course I didn't have a camera.
But DS and I decided to check it out anyway, they usually fly if you walk too close but, I thought, maybe we could get closer to it in the kayak if we were really quiet. Of course with a five year old with me, I wasn't sure if that was possible either but DS did great, minus when he waved at the eagle.Anyway, we got within about fifteen feet of that bald eagle! It was amazing. He was eating a fish and he was just watching us. We probably could have paddled right under him but ... After looking him straight in the eye, I got a little fearful and had visions of him flying down over me and knocking us off our kayak.
Such a neat moment that I got to spend with my son. Simply priceless. I told him he should never forget it. I hope he doesn't ... he really likes birds.
What is your special moment?
