S/O: Do your kids have electronic devices?

Do your children have ereaders, handheld gaming systems, ipods, or other personal electronic devices? How old are they and how long have they had them?

DD11 has her phone and DD3 has her own Vtech camera that has a few games on it as well. She got that last month for her birthday.

Nope, no itouch, nintendo, kindle, leapfrog, etc. Ds does have a cheesy kids "laptop" that plays letter and number games, but it's rarely used.

Ds is allowed to play games on my Nook Color or use a laptop to go on pbskids or starfall for 30 minutes on non-school days when dd is in nap/quiet time. Dd is 2.5 and way too young.

I have no idea at what age we will allow our kids to have their own.

We're a very electronics oriented family. Hubby and I have worked in the electronics industry for a very long time. As a result we have no problem with DD having electronics to play with. She has since the first days of living with us.

DD age 10, currently has her own cellphone. She has had access to one since kindergarten. We still don't have a texting plan, though. I suppose I'll have to add that in the near future as it is now one of the better ways to get a hold of us. She also has an itouch for music, games, videos, etc. She will soon have a Kindle fire, too. In the meantime she ahs been borrowing one of ours. She has her own desktop computer but doesn't use that so much because there are so many apps on the itouch. She has two ... no three ... e-mail addresses and a facebook account. We have Wii but it isn't hooked up (we really need to get on that). What else is there? When she was young she had all the usual, Leap Frog stuff.

Both of my girls have all things electronic. They are ages 11 and 5.

The iPod touches are the favorite, as they can FaceTalk with me from their dad's house. Texting, music, and games make it nice for appointments, long drives, etc.

They love the Nook, oldest often reads to youngest from it. There are games on there too.

Nintendo DSI and 3DS...used most often when traveling between our place and their dad's, or on long trips.

Youngest has had the DS since she was 4, oldest gave it to her when she got a new one.

The Nook, 3DS and iPods just came last year...birthdays and Christmas, when youngest was 5.

I gave them a cheap prepay phone when we separated from my ex, as he wouldn't answer his phone when I called to check on the girls. The girls were ages 4 and 9.

The iPod touches are worth their weight in gold to me. My youngest has called via FaceTalk from her dad's several times when she was upset and missing me and just having a hard time overall. Oldest often texts to tell me how they are doing. They always call me via FaceTalk at bedtime while at their dad's.

I should say that I could never afford all this. I saved for a whole year to get the iPod touches. My parents or my ex bought everything else.

DD, almost nine years old, has a Kindle that was paid for with her own money. She has had it for about a month and a half.

DD 17 has a Nook (she got this past Christmas), Nintendo DS (had for a few years), Regular Cell Phone (for 3 years) and an Mp3 player

DD 14 has an Ipod Touch (she purchased her self at 11), Cellphone (she shared with her sister until last year), Computer (she bought for herself at 13), She also has a Nintendo DS (she has had for a few years)

All of my kids have the regular Nintendo DS, but only ds still uses his on a regular basis.  Oldest DD has an ipod touch, she bought it herself by saving up birthday money and allowances.  She has had it for a year, and still sometimes gets it taken away for being a snot.  As of last week she now has a cell phone, it has data on it, but I told her she can't use it and I locked the data. She texts most of the time anyhow.

Thats it.

Middle dd uses my phone constantly, she plays games and texts her friends on it.
