So the rumor is...

that I have had gastric bypass!!!  HA bloody HA!  

 

I dropped dd off at a birthday party and someone commented on how much weight I had lost.  I always shyly say thank you (it's a bit embarrassing).  And she said  "well, you had surgery though, so it doesn't really count!"  I was aghast!!!

 

omg, to first say that I had surgery.  and to then say it doesn't count?  LOL

 

The gall of these people.  I don't know who started the rumor, but I am pretty sure I know given that circle of people.  

 

And to top it off, it's not that I have lost 100's of pounds, I have lost 55-60.  Do they even DO surgery for that?

 

oh the joys of small town life.

I agree--they must be jealous and naive to think that is the only way to lose weight.  You did look great in that photo you posted. 

 

It's kind of funny (maybe years from now you'll laugh at it) that they even thought this.  It would be the last thing I would think someone did to lose weight.  Really, it wouldn't even cross my mind.

 

So will you confront the gossip spreaders??

the woman who I think started this is bi-polar and a bit of a nut job.  her daughter and mine do not get along at all...  I tried being friends with her until I actually got to know her, and after my first stalker friendship I wasn't about to embark upon another.  She had my cell # and would text me 15 times a day.  I ignored her til she got the hint.

 

She is also trying to lose weight, she has posted on fb about some liquid diet and all that....  

 

So no, I don't think I will confront her.  But now that I know I can take the piss!  It could actually be really funny.

If they think surgery is the only way you could have made such a transformation then kudos to you!! I'd be looking at it as a positive. People who are jealous like to try and tear others down.

I am singled out here because I am American.  Both in a good way and bad.  

 

These people like to bitch about "bloody Americans" and all the stereo types that go with it.  and being that fat american who had surgery to lose weight.....  

 

It was actually one of the reasons I wanted to lose weight.  I felt like I was just being put in that box.  Before I opened my mouth and confirmed after I did.

Hey at least be glad that it was a legal rummor that they started about you.

 

When I lost 100 lbs, someone started the rummor that I was on drugs.

It got really ugly there for a little while. My preacher at the time, came to my house and said that a member of the church had told them that I was using drugs. I was really mad at first but then I investigated who started the rumor. I had two reliable friends from the church that knew who started it. So I went straight to her. At first she denied it, but then I told her that they would back me up in court if I had to push it that far. Finally she broke down and confessed that she had done it because she was jealous of me. For some strange reason, her husband made the comment that I look really good and shouldn't have any trouble finding me a husband. (I had been single for years and years)

 

So she took his comment to mean that he wanted to hook up with me. So instead of her being mad at him, she took it out on me. I still see her around town, but she avoids me.

 

She went to the preacher on her own and told him why she had made that up. He called me and apologized but I quite that church and started going to another one.

That's rough, I bet you are singled out a lot.  You do look really good, so they are probably just jealous. =P
