Corporal punishment in schools? (and a little follow up) - Page 3

I just talked to the former asst super of our school system/current super of a nearby school system and she told me that neither of those systems  use swats. She believes the Gary school system is the only one in the state that does although many religious schools do.

I see it is legal in Ohio, but I would not allow it and I would put up a huge stink if I found out it was used.  That seems so barbaric and I am still in shock that some schools still use it.

I can NOT believe this is a conversation! I never in a million years would have thought this would be legal in any sense.  I don't know if its legal in CT, I doubt it.  But I wouldnt allow it anyhow, thats just not happening.  My little one has been sent to the office on several occassions, and if I found out they did that, I would  pull him out so fast thier heads would spin!  But I'm not worried, it doesn't happen here.  My kids don't usually get in trouble, except my little one and that was before we had him medicated for adhd.

There is no way I would allow somebody else to hit my child. I don't hit them and nobody else will either. If I could not opt out then my child would not attend that school. I don't think I would be comfortable with my kids going to a school that allowed it in case of a "lost" form or misunderstanding.

This being said, my kids rarely ever get in trouble anyway.

It's illegal in CT.  It's also illegal in all of the north eastern states.

I'm not sure but I can't believe with the amount of tuition we pay anyone would be paddled!  If ANY person in authority touched DS at school I would call up our local television station and give them an earful After I Beat that person's ass!  No one touches my kid, no way, no how.
