Local story - these people must be beyond stupid

I saw this story on the front page of my local paper. I then looked it up on line to see the comments that people wrote, and was heartened to find that everyone else seems to think these people are absolute idiots as well.

 

Nutshell: Millage didn't pass in 2 separate elections to install some kind of high end blue turf in a high school footbook field. So, last year, 5 families put their homes up as collaterol for a $400K loan to install the turf. Now, it is due in 2 weeks, and they have only raised $100K. So they are asking the community to donate - to save their homes from foreclosure. The same community that twice voted down this very same blue turf. Idiots.

Nobody wants it, so lets risk our homes and then try to appeal to these same people to save us. Maybe losing their home will help them learn to smarten up rolleyes.gif

 

I'm not going to fund people's moronic ideas. Now if there were a fund I could donate to to try and erradicate idiocy I would be signing over as much as I could haha

One of the guys who might lose his home is some big executive with the Detroit Lions. Cry me a river.

So I guess I can't figure out why they "needed" this big expensive blue field. Guess they should have read our thread about "needs" vs "wants" lol

I agree -- these are stupid people.  What's so great about this Smurf turf (as someone in the comments called it)?  Does it make the kids play better?

Our HS doesn't have grass. It never did when my kids were there. They have some expensive AstroTurf type stuff. They didn't have any people stupid enough to put up their own money though.
