Back to school photo

As all of my friends on facebook have had their kids starting back to school, they have all been taking pictures of them holding up a sign that says first day of ...insert grade.  I liked this idea but wanted something a little more than just a piece of paper, so I crafted this number one up this morning for my son's first day of first grade pictures this morning.

I put the school name and date on the bottom.  I think it turned out pretty cute.

Great minds think alike!! I was just about to start a thread on this. Love your idea of holding the actual number of the grade. You can even use it later for the scrapbook/files where you'll keep all of his first grade memories.

Here are my boys on their first day of school yesterday. DS 4 started VPK (Voluntary Pre Kindergarten) which is a free program from 9:00-12:00 offered at his daycare. I usually bake them a cake the first day of school. Here they are in the afternoon when they came home and found the cake!

Cute boys!!

I love that you bake them a cake every year.  I love family traditions.

So cute.  My girls refused to let me continue this practice once they got into 5th grade (I think they regret it now).

Thanks Ruthie!!

Awww. That's too bad. I'm hoping they would like to continue the tradition. The school here lets you walk your kids to their classroom the first 3 days. DS is in a portable now so I was walking him this a.m. and he told me to stop at the beginning of the row of portables that he can just go by himself :(  I guess this is the first of manys "I'm big-I-dont-really-need-you" moments. frown.gif

My son wasn't too thrilled after about ten pictures.  lol!  But at least he did it.  I dread the day he won't let me...
