Is there some sort of tattoo etiquette? - Page 2

For the most part I ignore tattoos - honestly I don't like them, and I think if I ignore them they will go away ROTF.gif But if I was really interested and they were in your face kind of tattoos, I wouldn't hesitate to ask about them.  I feel if they are so prominently displayed (not like on the ankle, or mostly hidden) then the person might be using them as an attention getter and would Want me to ask!

I don't usually ask people about their tattoos but if I like them I compliment them, and I don't mind if people ask me about mine

I don't really pay attention to tattoos because I don't like them.  I've also never asked anyone about a tattoo because my dad has a tattoo that's a sore spot in our family.  He has a woman's name tattooed on his shoulder that's not my mother's name.  With that in mind, I would never ask someone about a tattoo because you never know if it's a tattoo that they regret getting and they don't have the money to get it removed.  The good news about my dad's tattoo is that now that he's older and wrinkled, you can't tell what the heck it is.  It looks like a bruise.  That's one thing young people don't realize when they get tattoos -- when they get old and wrinkly, their tattoos will be almost unidentifiable, unless they grab the skin on both sides and spread the wrinkles out. lol

This is me. I just DO NOT get the allure of tattoos. I never ask.

Same here.  I don't usually ask strangers too many questions, but will give compliments occasionally.

I have three tatoos (only one is visible to anyone other than DH and my doctor), but I certainly didnt get them as an attention getters, so don't expect anyone to comment on them. I got them for me, not for other people.  If someone asks me about them or comments on them it doesn't bother me unless they give off creepy vibes.

Yikes what a visual!!  I have to also say that when I say attention getting, I'm mostly talking about people who's arms (or other areas) are just covered with tattoos.  They look scary to me.

Although I would never get one because I am too chicken, I think some tatoos are pretty neat.  I personally don't like the all over tatoos--for me--but one or two strategically placed are pretty neat.

Call me cynical, but I would never have a lover's name tattooed on me. Even though you go into a relationship believing it's for keeps, you never know what will happen down the road. I've been married three times. Every time, I thought it was the last time. This last time WAS the last time, only because I'm never doing it again. But I'm glad I never had any of my ex-husbands' names inked.

Yeah, just personal preference, but I've never seen one that I though was "neat"! It might be an interesting design, but I wouldn't like it on my body or anyone else I knew either. But as I said....just personal preference.

one of DD friend has a naughty tatoo she has on her bottom I saw from when she was coming out of the lake at our house ..  I asked to wear a shirt to cover it she gladly did it ..  that was plenty of tatoos for me . DH or someone in the famly saw it it would have been unpleasant for all of us ..  She did ask me not to mention to her Dad ( her Mother let her get when she went to her house during the summer ..)
