A little worried

I'm a mommy of a 21 month old and I haven't had phantom kicks since my daughter was about 4 months old.   I all of a sudden started feeling little kicking sensations in my tummy again all the time and I'm a bit worried I might be pregnant again.   I have taken pregnancy tests and all have came back negative.   I have a IUD named mirena and its worked well but I'm starting to doubt it now.  It was a little after 3 months until I got my first positive pregnancy test with my daughter even though I took one every week because I had a feeling I was pregnant.   I'm just unsure what to do here.   Can you have just random phantom kicks all of a sudden like this?  Its been happening all the time towards the night time just like with my daughter.

Well, because of your past experience, I recommend that you consult with your OB/GYN. There is no harm in getting a check-up.

On the flip side, I have inflammatory arthritis that causes tiny muscle contractions. Without treatment I frequently have abdominal contractions that feel a lot like phantom kicks. Trust me, when I was a teenager it really freaked me out!

But it is best to ask your OB/GYN just to be sure.

I agree, go see a doc.  if you are pregnant and it isn't showing up on a pee on a stick test you will need to know sooner than 3 months along.

I must say, I have never heard of pregnancy phantom kicks.

Though I WILL say that there's a lot going on down there in your tummy.  And from time to time I get gas or twitches that clearly resemble when I was pregnant and often I wonder if it was really the baby or just everything being squished and changes in the tummy area.

Not only that, if you are 3 months pregnant that is quite early to be feeling even the faintest of butterfly kicks from a babe.

My advice, go see your OBGYN.

A doctor's visit is the only way to know for sure either way. If you're not, then knowing that can stop your worrying. If you are, then it's always best to know as soon as possible for health (yours and the baby's) and sanity reasons.

I am with everyone else.  See a doctor.  I also thought that a baby kicking at 3 months would be rather soon--it usually occurs after 4 months and I would think by that point you would notice other changes in your body.

I don't have any health insurance at this point in time, which blows but at least my daughter Stella does.    I'm not sure if planned parenthood would do a test or not, because they only do the pee stick tests not blood tests.   My tummy has gotten noticeably bigger lately and I have been getting sick over the smallest things.   That's why I'm so worried, I just don't really know what rout to go threw right now. What do you ladies suggest I do.

you need to go to your local health department.  call WIC and see what they can do and which direction they can point you in.

You can go to Planned Parenthood. Their medical appointments are charged on a sliding scale. They can do an exam and tell a lot just by looking at your cervix. Let us know.
