Gravy on Rice - Have you ever had it?

We were at a restaurant in the south and they served rice with gravy on top.  I'd never had it before.  Is it a southern thing?

Never had it, but since I love gravy, I am sure I would like it. I would also like to try Poutine - in Canada they put brown gravy on french fries along with cheese curds - talk about stick to your ribs!

My mom used to use leftover turkey in gravy and serve it over mashed potatoes or rice. I actually ate that a lot in college, except I didn't have any leftover turkey. I would use gravy mix, white rice, and frozen mixed veggies. Yuck!

I've never heard of such a thing.

Yup. Sometimes it is brown rice with chicken gravy when I do baked chicken or brown gravy with brown rice with round steak.

Me either, but I am not a real gravy or white rice fan

As I answered in that gravy thread today, no one in my family except me (when I eat out) will eat gravy. If someone served my family rice with gravy we'd have to send it back and ask for the rice plain. There is NO WAY my kids would eat that. Neither of them will let a drop of gravy pass their lips.
