Homemade Incredibles Halloween Costume

Here is my homemade Incredibles Halloween costume!  D loves to "Dash" around in it.  The shirt and pants were about $20, but he can wear them all winter (and he needed new clothes).  I just spent a couple dollars on everything else, so it turned out to be a frugal Halloween costume.  Sometimes homemade costumes end up costing more, but not this one!

  • Shirt and Pants from Target ($13, but he'll be able to wear them all winter)
  • Incredibles logo patch from Etsy ($6)
  • black swim knit fabric ($2)
  • black felt ($.34/sheet)
  • orange felt ($.34/sheet)
  • bit of black elastic
  • bit of hook-and-loop
  • Daddy's black socks

Shirt: used an iron on patch for the Incredibles logo, because we couldn't find an Incredibles shirt for sale anywhere.  I did, however, find a tutorial/free pattern for making an Incredibles logo using felt and fabric glue.  That would be a more frugal homemade option.

Black underwear: I used a pair of underwear as a pattern and cut out a front and back from the black knit fabric.  I made it big so it would fit over the pants, which are fleece.  I sewed the sides and bottom of the underwear together - that's it.

Mask: I drew a few mask shapes on paper until I was satisfied with the shape.  I just held it up to Dalton's face to make sure it was a good fit for him.  Then I cut out two from black felt and sewed them together around the outside and the eye holes, inserting one end of black 1/4" elastic between the layers on each side.

Orange Belt: I just cut a long strip of orange felt, and sewed on a bit of hook-and-loop tape to hold it in place.  This is felt I already had in my stash. If you use a sheet of felt, you might have to piece together a strip.

Black "Gloves": I cut a rectangle of the black knit fabric just wide enough to stretch around his arms.  Then I sewed the long sides together.  You could do the same to make "boots" but we had these black socks on hand and we're going to use those instead.

We couldn't find anything out right now except a polyester costume with fake muscles.  My friend is getting Mickey and Minnie pjs for her kids' costumes though. I think that's a great idea for 1-3 yos.
