Clothes for Elf on the Shelf

Have you ever dressed your Elf on the Shelf?  I found that Barbie's clothes fit pretty well.  The only hangup is that his hands are stitched together, so you can't get a top on unless you snip that thread.  I didn't want to do that, since it's done that way purposely so your Elf can hang on things.

Have you ever dressed your Elf?  What did you use, and how did you pose him/her?

Check out our Elf on the Shelf Photo Gallery.  Upload your pictures there too!

I just got our Elf in the mail today & decided it definitely needs some clothes to go along with the adventures. I was hoping Barbie clothes would fit (not to get my hands on some!). I went ahead & snipped the hands apart and just added a little bit of Velcro so she can still hang around. So excited to start the tradition this year!

Great idea I'm going to have to try this with ours!

You could snip the thread and then add a snap to each palm or a small dot of velcro.

I would do this. I imagine the elf is light enough you could even use stick-on velcro, but if you're going to reuse your elf year after year, I would spend a few minutes and sew a snap on his hands.

If you have a lot of Barbie (or Ken) clothes, I think it'd be fun to dress up the elf in a new outfit for some of his different activities.  He can dress up for date night with Barbie, or put on a swimming suit for a dip.

If you've got a girl Elf, there are collector's skirts every year.  They're just $6.50.  That's not too bad. Claus Couture Elf on the Shelf Skirt Collector's Edition 2012

Hi! Thanks for the barbie clothes idea...that's great and I would have never thought of that. Also, just to share...I snipped that thread on our elf's hands and stitched Velcro on them. Thought I'd share with you, since you shared your idea.biggrin.gif

Well, I feel silly as I just read all the previous comments and saw that I wrote exactly what everyone else wrote. Sorry about that. Lol
