Any organizing projects lined up for the new year?

I was at a friends house and he recently moved in so there really wasn't much "Clutter"....I was SO relaxed and it was like a smack upside the head...I could feel like this in my own home too if I got rid of some of the clutter.

My problem is overcoming the "Oh what if i need this someday" or the "sentimental value" of things. So that is my big step....Clearing the clutter.

I already have one small box from the bedroom done and let me tell you- for me...THAT is progress! smile.gif

DH and I made a list last night of stuff we no longer want. he is going through his work bench right now and donating stuff is in one box and stuff he could sell in another( his dad and my dad gave him a bunch of tools etc...most he has never touched!).

DS is going through his stuff right now and has two boxes also...donate and sell

once DD's friends leave she will be doing the same thing

we have all vowed to get rid of anything we no longer want, use or need and become totally organized!!

we USE to be when i was a stay at home mom.....since working for just over a year now outside the house...its all gone to hell in a hand basket around here!

My pantry needs some organization, though that won't take long. As for decluttering, we already put our Christmas tree in the trash ...

Mine is ongoing for a while now, progress tends to go in spurts (but now that I've cut down shopping, even "little" things, it should go better)...

Reading all the "get organized" stuff the last few days has motivated me some though--I went through three kitchen drawers that had amassed a bunch of junk.  I turned one into my "knife" drawer, right next to the utensil drawer.  One holds "special" serving silverware, medicine (advil, advil cold and sinus, cough drops, etc) and a few other things that will find a home as a I along, and the third one has become the designated "junk drawer", although I will also find things for some of those items.

I redid the pantry and 2 cupboards tonight.  DH walked in from work and just raised an eyebrow at the amount of boxes, cans and modular mates covering the counters and kitchen table.  Figured I better just roll with it when the urge hit.

After dinner I cleaned up the basement.  2 trash bags later it's tidy and I'm almost happy with it.  The closet down there, now, that's a whole 'nother day & time!

Thinking about tackling my bedroom closet.  I almost need dh to be outta town for a couple of days to make that happen.

I made a big pantry-stocking trip this week, so I organized the pantry a bit while I was at it. Looks much better now.

I went through closets yesterday and the kitchen the other day. I have two bags for goodwill.

I need to clean out the storage room/unfinished part of our basement.
