1. Know what you need (take stock of what you have on a fairly regular basis) this avoids over purchasing

2.sign up for your favorite stores emails you can get good promo codes this way and also special sales sometimes a day or two before the public knows.

3. shop Thrift,2nd hand and discount stores like tjmax marshalls gordmans and look often inventory changes often. Example recently our tjmax had underarmor sweat shirts for $24.99 and Abercrombi & Fitch sweat shirts for $19.99.

4. Clearance racks you can score at a lot of stores on these plus use store coupons to stack

5. By basics that mix and match then splurge on cute tops that may cost a tad more. Most jeans can be bought at any store they are all fairly similar in style these days.

1. Buy ahead so you never have to pay full price.

2. Don't over buy. Most people have way more clothes than you really need.

3. Be patient and always check clearance racks. Use this along with tips #1 and #2 and you'll save big.

4. Don't buy clothes you don't love, or they won't wear. My daughter hates jeans. I've stopped trying to talk her into them. If it won't get worn it's a waste of money.

5. Keep clothing organized and pared down so you use what you have and don't overbuy.

1. Repurpose what you already have by adding different jewelry, scarfs, belts etc....

2. Buy mix and match pieces so that you can have several different outfits from the same pieces of clothing.

3. Swap with friends who are the same size and have similar taste. I swap with a good friend and we love it.

4. Combine discount cards, store credit with sales

5. Check consignment and thrift stores first.

1.  Take in old clothing and trade it in for cash.  Stores like Once Upon a Child, Plato's Closet and Clothes Mentor will give you cash on the spot.

2.  Shop thrift and consignment stores looking for gently used clothing.  eBay is another place to check.

3.  Wait until the end of the season and shop clearance racks

4.  Can't afford new clothes?  Update with inexpensive accessories like earrings, necklaces, scarves, belts and so on.  It will give your older items an updated look.

5.  Know where to splurge, and where to save.  Some things are worth spending more money on if you will be wearing them a lot.  Calculate the cost per wear to figure out where you should be spending your money.
