You know you're frugal when even shopping at Walmart seems high!!

Dh and I both have gotten part-time jobs at McDonalds. We had to go buy shoes and a belt for me last night. We hit Walmart, because I figured that would be the cheapest way to go. We had an option to order these items through McDonalds and I didn't want to spend that much money. I was surprised at how expensive things were. Granted, the last pair of shoes I bought were some Reeboks on eBay for $6!! And we buy most of our clothes at thrift stores, so it really has been a long time since I have bought any clothes items at a store.

Our two pairs of shoes and the belt cost SIXTY dollars!!! Some of you are probably saying, "Yeah, that sounds about right. What's her problem?!" But dang, even dh said, "Well, there goes my pay for this Sunday's shift and my training hours."

On a side note, I think it is quite silly that we're required to wear belts. I haven't worn a belt since probably junior high. Trust me, my fat body with a belt is NOT a pretty picture. AND I have to remove all but 2 of my earrings. I have 11 holes in my ears that have been there for YEARS. So, instead of the earrings (that most people wouldn't even notice), I will have 9 gaping HOLES in my ears. . .

Well, look at that, I hijacked my own thread. . .

well i have noticed that prices on everything are slowly going up and up 10 cents here and there but in the end it slowly adds up...good luck with your jobs.. yeh the belt thing seems dumb to me..

It is so funny! I was thinking about how expensive walmart is the other day! Even the clearance rack is expensive! I can get better quality of clothes for less than that at Old navy and The gap. I tried to tell my friend this and she sooo does not believe me. Keeps going to Wal mart for the kids clothes when she could be saving money elsewhere! Makes no sense to me. ( then again she is the type that thinks "those other stores are for rich snobby people...)
