Coupon Train Improvement Discussion

Hello Riders,

I have been getting complaints that riders are not posting at all, riders posting but not mailing the train until several days later, trains showing up without enough postage, trains getting detailed and so forth.

With 32 trains, it is very important that every rider do their part in helping to maintain and update their coupon train and thread.

I am asking for suggestions on making our trains more efficient. If you have any ideas, comments or concerns, please post here so that we may discuss them as a group.

Thanks for your help,

I'm thinking if a train gets derailed, the next person can restart teh train, omitting the person who derailed.

Only Serious coupon queens need apply. Alot of us rely on those coupons to come once a month, and its not fair for the people who keep it running to lose it all because someone doesn't have time. It only takes a few minutes to either throw it back in the mail, or just post that you want to be removed. If you throw it back in, you don't even need to add the coupons, just KEEP IT GOING.

I second Missystuy's comments.

Thanks!

Another suggestion, how about a time limit?? All riders should get thier trains out within 5 days or else forfeit thier turn, it gets restarted, and that person gets skipped on the next go round, unless we hear otherwise.

I think that sounds like a great idea!

If we did a time limit and had to start a new train so quickly, I think lot of coupons would be wasted (on the train not going anywhere) or trains might not be as big and as useful because the person who needs to start the train may not have that many.

What about a posting requirement? Like you must 100 posts or something to join... Maybe if we get serious inquiry's only they may be more likely to stay on track.

apparently I pm'ed a former moderator. I never heared back which I now understand why as I see the moderators at the bottom of forum. :D I mentioned in my pm about mininum posts. we used to have them. we had newbie trains and regular trains. It may be just me but mine seem to be going slow. I did toss quite a few b4 I could add them. maybe if we keep them to 4 people?

I don't know if I agree that there should be a minimum post requirement for joining a coupon train, and if there is...I'm not sure 100 posts is the best number. If the train is sent to someone who has only posted a few times on here, how can you be sure they WON'T post once they get the train? Or send it on it's way once they DO? I know this is all done in good faith, and it's impossible to tell who will or will not do what they're supposed to do out of respect for everyone else involved, but I don't think it's fair that anyone should be excluded simply based on how many posts they've made.

Having said THAT, however...if a member of a train does not respond to emails or posts directed to them within a certain amount of time (having to do with the train) it may be an indication this person can not be trusted to do their part as a member of a train. (As has been my experiance.)

I also think there SHOULD be a set amount of time that the next recipiant of a train is to respond here, once there is a post made regarding that the coupon train has been sent out(say, 7 days or so?) regarding whether or not they received the train. I also think there should be a time limit on how soon that train is then sent back out...(say, within the next 2-3 days?) If these stipulations aren't met, then that person should be banned from participating. At least for a while. I just think it's not fair to the rest of us that DO do our part, and are trying to have fun with this.

Well how about only the MODS restart the trains, skip the person who derailed and go to the next person? But I don't think it will really be a problem. Me, for example, I always have TONS of coupons and I'm always willing to share. I have 3 diffrent people saving them for me.

And I definatly agree with a posting requirement. We NEED to make sure that the people on the trains WILL Post and are comfortable with posting to keep us updated.

I like the 4 people idea but then I'm afraid we'd have some people who can't participate because they come around too fast and they just can't handle it coming that coming. It's true someone will say that! 32 trains X 5 people (roughly) = 160 people. Everyone won't be happy but I need to do what's best for the majority.

About the 4 people, I like that idea but I like to include myself or 3lynns on every train so that we can update and maintain it because, again, many trains go kaput. So it's 4 people plus a mod (besides we get them out quickly anyhow.)

I'm thinking of going through the trains that haven't posted in atleast 2 weeks, emailing the riders and give them a 48 hour deadline to respond. If they don't respond then that train will be officially derailed and I will be putting new riders on the list.
