How to make shredded chicken breasts

Thread Starter
I know this should be in the food forums, but I figure it would get looked at more here.

So should I use bone in or boneless chicken? Does it matter?
How long do I cook them? How do I cook them??

Thank you!

I use boneless chicken and just put it into the crock pot frozen. I just check it every so often but I just cook it on high until it falls apart, about six hours I think. I add some water and seasoning at the beginning. I eat salads with chicken all the time and I think this is the easiest way. I just make enough for a few days at a time.

I have made shredded BBQ chicken a couple of times. Once I cooked it in the crockpot all day until it pulled apart. The other time I boiled it until it would shred.

I just boil it, then use 2 forks to shred it. One fork to hold the breast in place, the other to shred (at an angle works best...)

I put mine in the crock pot with a little bit of chicken stock or a little bit of water.  It doesn't matter if you use boneless or bone-in chicken breasts.

If I am going to shred it I use a whole chicken in the crockpot. Again, it just falls off so all I have to do is fish out the skin and bones. My mom always does hers in a pressure cooker for shredding.

I also go the crockpot route with some stock. It really is foolproof in the crock pot. Just crank it on high and start checking it after a couple hours (depends on how much you've got in there) until you can "fork it apart" (I'm pretty sure that's the technical term). I assure you, it's impossible to screw up.
