Is it ok to take Tylenol and Aleve together?

Not at the exact same time...but I've taken some Aleve (about an hour and a half ago) to relieve the horrendous pain in my throat (severe tonsilitis) and it's not working. Would it hurt to take some Tylenol now?

I know it's OK to take Tylenol and Ibuprofen together, but isn't Aleve Naproxen? I don't know about that one - do you have a Walgreens 24 hr. phamacy near you? They can look it up, usually.

Aleve is naproxen...I have never purchased it myself. I agree with calling the pharmacy to ask. I don't normally find the need to mix drugs. Fortunately I find that ibuprofen works really well for me. Acetaminphen didn't ever seem to do anything me, so I don't even buy it anymore.

I googled and found this article on acetaminophen and Nsaids working together to relieve arthritis pain...so it sounds like you can combine them.

I'm the opposite...ibuprofen does NOTHING for me...and sometimes even acetominophen does nothing for me.

I am SO miserable right now that I'd try almost anything.

Acetaminiphine (Tylenol) is metabolized by the liver. Never mix it with alcohol! Naproxin (Aleve) is mostly metabolized by the kidneys. Drink plenty of water.

You're supposed to take them 2 hours apart. However, since you're not making a habit of it or taking large doses (right?!) your body will probably be okay.

Naproxin never does anything for me. I can't stand the stuff because once you take it you can't take ibuprofen or asprin for hours on end.

Have you thought of trying a throat spray like Chloraseptic?

This is what I would have said too. Just be careful not to take ibuprofen and aleve together, as they are both metabolized by the kidneys. I would also be careful to take with food, as large amounts of drugs can be hard on the gut (though tylenol isn't as bad as ibuprofen).
