I have an 11 year old that I would consider overweight in that she is "chunky". However, her dr. blew me off saying that girls go through this sometimes and that puberty normally evens it all up. (And in the past, this dr. has told me to "watch" my 2 year old who was chunky, too. She isn't so much so now!) It is hard because she also towers over her friends in height...so it may just be her body build...and we have to live with that. We try to stay on top of what she eats and what activities she does, but we also are not going to make her give up being a KID. As long as you are doing the same as me....I wouldn't worry to much.
