I have just a few minutes. I think I passed myself coming and going!
To update, recap our week:
Monday-Bad, bad heart cath. Lung pressures too great to intervene at this time. Tommy is on a ventilator part of the day, then needs oxygen at 40% with his blood oxygen saturation levels between 60-84%
Tuesday-I refuse to be sent home on just oxygen until his surgeon talks to me..I am told he is reviewing the cath report
Wednesday-Still hanging out, Tommy is still groggy, but awake and smiles at his dad and plays for a while
Thursday-Dr. Bradley (his surgeon) says we can intervene and try a repair. If it wont work because of his lung pressures, we can upsize his shunt to give him better blood flow.
Friday-Tommy has surgery at 8 am and is done by 1. Shunt is upsized, repair not possible. Will be consulting with a pulmonologist to see what can be done for his lung disease and to find out why he aspirates. He is pink, doing very well, and has peed (a fantastic sign of a good recovery!)
Back to the hospital I go. Don't know how long recovery will be. Must wait 4 days to be assured lung pressure doesn't increase....Pray that doesnt happen!
