When DH worked 3rd shift my snack time was when he left for work and the girls were in bed - 10:30!! Too late to eat junk I know but it became more of a habit.

Oh my goodness---this would be my downfall! I find that if I think I've snacked enough and realize I'm eating out of boredom, I get some gum and that at least helps for a while.

Sorry computer froze on me. Had to re-boot.

Snack "the most" time.....probably the afternoon....but really we try to keep pretty healthy stuff around.

Usually it is crackers and cheese because that is what ALL the kids want too.

Oprah said something awhile back that it's best to cut yourself off at 7:30pm. Giving your body time to digest food properly before going to bed. I heard that and tried to stick with it. It does make sense....however, like you, once the kids go to bed, and it's quiet, and dh and I just want to relax, the first thing we do is grab the ice cream (especially in the summer time) and have a bowl. We take it out on our porch and like an old couple, sit on our swing and eat ice cream!!! LOL

A much healthier option would of course be to have sherbet but I'm all about the creamy sensation of ice cream and berries! I'm so bad in the summer!

Afternoon snacking is the worst for me, especially during the school year. I get home and I'm tired and I just want to eat.

Shell a suggestion about the late night snacking and TV would be to maybe eat popcorn which is crunchy and satisfying....and light!!!! That way you don't go to bed with a full tummy!

I am a night time snacker and to curb it a little bit I had been watching more tv in my bedroom where I wont take food!

This is exactly what I try to do....and have been pretty good at it for about 10 years now.

Once you get in the habit....it is hard to pick anything up after that time....And it works!

I don't always eat the healthiest. But it is VERY rare that I will eat late at night....not that I never do it...

And Ice Cream is a downfall of ours too...especially this time of year...like you said.

Yup, Oprah was wherre I had first really paid attention to the cut off time ...I think it was a Bob Greene episode and it DOES make so much sense..but is so hard to stick to....Maybe I just give up too easily....

that's my downfall. The kids are either napping or in quiet time and I can finally eat in peace. Because we're not out and about and doing much, I tend to snack the most probably just because it's convenient .... the fridge is in the other room.

I try (and try very hard) to eat a lot of fibre in the morning hoping it will fill me up...and it does. It gets me through to lunch....but then after lunch I'm snacking again. I have to think of ways to beef up my fibre intake in the afternoon

TOPIC:
Any ideas as to how you can intake more fibre?
