Sneaking food into the movies......

Happymom posted a post regarding taking freebies when they don't apply to your situation and momof2boys said she puts that on the same level of taking your own food into movies.

I never thought anything of taking juice boxes or candy into the theater. In fact we are going to a movie on Wed and i told my friend that i was going to take food.

Soooooooooooooooo does anyone else think it's horrible to do this? I mean i could leave there spending well over $20 for snacks for three kids and myself if i didn't take in juice boxes and candy. I will buy a tub of popcorn. Personally i think Movie theaters are a huge rip off in the snack department.

Tell me am i the only one??????

i never have taken food into the movies. feel too guilty. but as i stated in the other thread, i have lied to receive a freebie. i guess i don't feel guilty if i am not seen.

We had a post about that awhile back, and there were only a few of us who thought it was totally wrong!!! I think if you have to sneak to do something, it is obviously wrong and it sends a bad message to your kids too. Either buy the food there or skip the snacks.

JMO!!! As I said in the other post, maybe I am too honest

If the food they sold there wasn't such a rip off I would feel worse....but I don't feel bad at all. I sneak in my m&m's and diet coke. I do understand what you are saying about being an example to your kids though. Hmmm. I just want my snacks and can't afford to pay an additional $20!

I always bring in candy and and buy a popcorn and drink to share. I can't afford to spend $20 on snacks when the prices of tickets and food are so inflated! Plus, the size of the candy boxes are so big, who needs that many skittles?? I think it goes to an extreme when people sneak in their own popcorn, you would need a big purse for that and really make an effort. Plus, movie popcorn is part of the expereince

I gotta say for the most part i pride myself on honesty. Just this last month i found a couple dollars on the side walk and took it into the store it was laying in front of. The guy thought i was a nut job......THEN I REALIZED IT WAS MY OWN MONEY!!!!! Haha!!!! I didn't go back in and get it though because i was half way home. However i couldn't take the money even if no one was around to see me take it.

I just really feel it's not fair how much they charge for the snacks at a movie theater.

Sooooooooo i guess i'm not as honest as i always thought.

I went to the movies just the other night and had a bottled water in my hoodie pocket. When we take the girls to the movies we always have the diaper bag with us. We always throw in extra crackers and fruit snacks. Sometimes we make a special trip to the dollar store for candy to take in to the movies.
We have also filled the diaper bag with stuff to take into a Jazz Game or other events at the arena. It is way to expensive.
What is ridiculous is when you just want a big cup of water and they still want to charge you the $3.50. They tell you that you pay for the cup. What paper cup costs $3.50?

I always bring the candy for my Kids - instead of buying the candy at the theater- which is way too big!!

We do always spend over 20.00 on food anyway ( Popcorn and Drinks ) - so No I don't feel Guilty for bringing the candy.
If I weren't buying ANY food and Making my kids Eat only what I bought I would Feel Bad.

I wouldn't Go to the Movies if I Couldn't afford the Customary Popcorn/soda stop.

If We don't have 50.00 to Blow - and We don't ALOT of the time-
We wait till the movie comes out on DVD.

i usually only take my son's sippy cup with juice in. however i have had cases where we have just eaten and have our takeout food with us or i just came from starbucks and i have my coffee. the theater we go to im assuming doesnt have a problem with it because i have never hidden anything i have. i would just walk in with it in one hand and the tickets in the other. really i never stopped to think that it was wrong since we almost always buy popcorn and sodas anyway. in my mind movies and popcorn just go together. lol! i guess i never gave it any thought before
