Assignments #2-#4 - Page 2

I am excited by this and after I get off the computer I am going to try to get my dh to come on board!

I can see I'm going to have to modify this a little bit, though, for example three weeks ago two friends and I set up that we are all going to lunch with the kids tomorrow. I don't want to break that, And I am not prepared to have everyone here tomorrow. So I guess we are going to go since it was already set up, but we'll be extremely frugal in the restaurant (order water for drinks, see if they have specials, or if we elect to do fast food - not my first choice - but we can order off the $1 menu).

In another way, this has already helped me. Ds's calendar ran out (obviously) It was a great one from Kids National Geographic. Anyway, we were going to go out and get ds one, since they are 1/2 price...but I just remembered that I had gotten some 'blank' calendars that you can create your own pictures for them. So that is what we are going to do today! Ds loves nature, and it will be easy to make one using just our computer and printer! Maybe I'll even make one for myself!!

I'll have to modify the 21-day spending freeze for now. One of my friends and I (along with our kids) will have a late Christmas lunch out. So that's not a necessary expense but it has been planned.

I'm sure the kids will not be happy when I tell them there will be no junk food bought for the next three weeks ! They will probably start hording their Chistmas stocking treats ( well what's left of them anyway)! Great way to start the year off with a diet! The only bummer is that I was planning on buying Dave Ramsey's book this week !

Wow, Kim, you're tough! I thought we'd just start by tracking our spending or making a budget. LOL

That's okay. This is going to be great. I need to get serious about my finances now. What better way than to freeze the spending?

Today I was going to purchase a clearanced pocketbook that I've been eyeing. Not anymore! That's $30 saved. Chaching!

Alrighty! I'm up to the challenge and have the family on-board, too! They liked the "Mommysavers Survivor" comment!

Going to make my Approved Spending List now . . .

I'm so excited and ready for this. I think there will be expenses during this time that we wish we didn't have--such as my fiance is in the Air Force, and I will be flying to see him on the 18th. The ticket is paid for, but there is still extra gas to the airport, parking, etc. I think those are needs to promote our relationship (we plan to be married and I will move with him in the summer), although we will have to resist the wants of going out for dinner, to the movies, etc while together. My point is, I'm ready!

I just printed it up using Christy's suggestion...now I think I am going to switch my notebook to a 3 ring binder( which i have!) so I can SAVE all of them...going to go get started.....

And added bonus...DH is totally on board! He is reading the printed up assignments now! YAY!

This is going to be a little tough my dd is having her 17th birthday on the 11th and I have not bought any gifts, this will have to be on the approved list. Also was headed out to Bath & Body this weekend, but will cancel that trip. Not to sure that I can get my dh on board, he is an avid snowmobiler and spends money about every other weekend to go. I will try my best at the spending freeze though. Does anyone have a good recipe for left over ham?

Yes, this is a really tough part of the plan. But, like with most things that are worthwhile success doesn't come easily. Remember, with this you'll get out of it what you put into it.

If you have birthday parties coming up and really want to be "good" I suggest starting a new thread in one of our Money Saving Tips forums asking for suggestions for free or low-cost party plans (yes, it can be done!). Who knows, maybe someone has an idea for a free birthday gift I can make for my dad!

I dont have a problem with doing these challenges. I consider myself lucky that my DH is completely on board with any way shape or form for me to save money. We have to get dog food and cold meds for me this morning and no more spending till thursday so we should be ok. Workin on the approved spending now
