Are you learning to be resourceful? - Page 3

My biggest victories in being resourceful is in the kitchen. We have had some pretty interesting (but good!) meals.

Tonight I used the last of our 4 eggs for scrambled eggs, made some Bisquick pancakes with cinnamon, and some cut up potatoes, fried in olive oil. It was actually a real meal, and it was good! Normally, I would have run to the store to buy stuff instead of seeing what I could piece together.

My cupboards/fridge/pantry is getting PRETTY BARE right about now though. lol.

Thank You For Bringing up this Point again - I Know Doozer had Said Something Earlier in the Spending freeze About post dating a Check .
This is the way I am Planning on Living From Now on.

I thought nothing of writing a 50.00 check to Put into My Kids lunch accounts , Just so I didn't Have to Worry about it for awhile.- But Now I am Just Going to Put in 20.00.
I can Always put more in later right?.... AND I will have an extra 30.00 in MY checking account in case we really need it for something else. -30.00 isen't Much , But Every Amount adds Up.... Last Yr. the kids had a Balance at the end of the yr. for 20.00 each ! They roll it to the next yr. But what is the point of Me not Having that 40.00 In my Possesion?
Same way as You said about Getting two Major things done in one week!
I have done this Numerous times - Because I Want to Get things done , out of the way and I Don't Want to Have to Worry about them
But I need to Be Real - I Really Don't HAVE to Scedule the Car inspection and The Dogs Vet in the same week do I ??
Unless it is an Emergency or I am going to end up paying more... I am paying For what I Have to when I have to.
This is Really going to Help me.

Well I noticed I am running out of paper towels, but I found 3 packs of christmas napkins that I had left over, so we are going to use them instead. I am using up things in my pantry instead of buying all new side items. I am trying to be more resourceful!

That extra amount in the checking account come in handy when someone (ok, me) forgets to subtract the insurance draft. I had to rob Peter to pay Paul to cover that mistake.

I've been using up what I have in the house. That was my goal, and also to stop stockpiling and just having it sit there. I have been more careful to have water and snacks with me. Or on outings, take sandwiches. I've been getting creative though in the food area. I've purchased the plain yogurt and fruit and let the kids make their own. I also saved the individual serving bowls from applesauce, yogurt and such to use as snack cups or art cups too. Also, sandwiches, the kids got hooked on Peanut Butter and honey sandwiches.

So my goal was to use up what I have in the house. I have also dropped my Y memebership and took advantage of Directv, which I just follow the gym schedule and do the workouts at home. Also, walk after I drop Kelsey off at school, so it gets Thom and I out together.

I did give in at kohl's late weekend, but it was to get clothes for the kids that were on sale. But I also had money from clothes that I sold at consignment to pay for the purchases.

I've been using the crockpot a lot so that there is already something going for dinner when I get home -- no need to eat out!

I am taking my lunch and no money to work.

My DS can't use the calling card to call me when he gets home from school. He can't punch in the numbers fast enough, so instead of getting an additional cell phone (which I seriously thought about doing), my DH will leave his at home and use his ambulance radio in the car if he has an emergency (which was the idea for a cell phone anyway).

Dh and I are sharing a ride to work. It means I'm off an hour before he is, but I just read while waiting for him, and it works out great.
