I'm jumping in on Feb's challenge. I'm bugeting $240 for 4 of us. Last month I spent $260 but I'd like try and decrease what I spend by a little. I'm making next week's menu tonight and will shop tomorrow morning.

Care to share some of your staples? I would love to get us down to more like $350 a month for 5 of us.

I got some great deals with coupons at the end of last year for personal stuff
free TP
free shampoo and conditioner
free girly products if ya know what i mean
free razors
laundry soap

i only buy the essentials. we don't have fancy meals, but we are fed and its sooo much healthier than eating out! We don't eat a ton of fresh fruits, DH doesn't like them.
we only do 1 gallon of milk for a week and a half or so. when i buy milk i try to get the longest expiration date possible. i make that one last until it expires.
i use powdered milk to cook with.

i think thats it...

My budget is $500.00 for 2 adults, 2 kids, 2 dogs. and 2 cats.

I went over by $115.00 in January. So I'm really going to try harder. I won't to my first shopping trip for Feb until the 11th when hubby gets paid again. I set for groceries until then

Ryansmom, what a great reason to save money! I hope everything goes smoothly for you and you stay healthy, you'll be in my prayers

I'm in for February too. My goal is 375.00 this month for the 5 of us and our dog. I will plan out my meals and grocery shop only for the staples on Tuesday.
