Everyday the media (MSN, CNN, MSNBC etc), downplay the achievements of president Bush. We have made soo much progress in Iraq, but none of them would ever let people believe that. He lowered capital gains to 15% from 30% and lowered taxes. He made an amazing economy..and I doubt we are heading into recession. There is no proof, there needs to be two quaters of data. But if people believe we are heading into one, well, we might as well be.
Perception = reality. How you perceive things filtered through your own views and experiences is basically what shapes your reality. People will pretty much believe what they WANT to believe. People actually search out information and filter it through their perception to create a reality that that supports their beliefs. I see this with politics ALL the time, whether it's Bush, Clinton, or whatever. Basically if you believe Bush is a terrible person, you'll search out information that supports that belief. If you think all Clintons are corrupt, ditto.
Sorry for the psycho babble... I'm an ex psychology student and perception has always fascinated me.
