Halloween Candy: where are the best deals?

Where do you shop for Halloween candy to get the lowest price? I started to buy some at Target the other day and wasn't sure if the prices were good or not.

I could not buy Halloween candy now. If it is in the house it will get eaten. I always try to watch for a sale. Over the years I tend to believe 3 weeks out from Holiday is best deals. By that time most or all coupons released for these items will be out. The stores seem to be higher the last two weeks out because they believe that you will buy reguardless of price out of need. If I come across any really good deals I will post. Now is a good time to write down prices at other retailers as you shop to compare. Know when specials end. If store is more than a five minute drive I do call ahead to check price and stock. Some stores have even offered to hold merchandise at service desk for me. This saves time and gas. Good luck.

:D This is my problem, too. I want a good deal, but it's not a good deal if I eat it all before Halloween!!

I'm guessing we all have this problem! Thanks for posting this question CAgirl. I was wondering myself. I was wondering if prices would go down the day before or the day of Halloween--stores wanting to get rid of as much as possible. But maybe they keep it at regular prices so they can get all the procrastinators. I don't know!

A couple of years ago I waited until the day before Halloween (not because I was trying to get the best deal -- I was just lazy) and there wasn't much candy left!!

My Aldi is $1.99 per bag (chocolates fun size bars). Best I remember seeing last year(chocolates) was 3 for $5. My Menards had $.99 per bag (limit 3) but it was a refund store check thing.

The last few year we have given out bags of chip instead of candy. We buy the mini bags in bulk at Sam's Club. I think there are over 50 bags in a box for about $9. The kids love them. We get alot of excited kids that they're not getting the same old candy.

Have you considered doing something other than candy? We always give out pencils and other non-edible items. They don't cost much at all and I've never gotten a complaint.
Also, the leftovers are useful and don't cause cavities.
