When/how do you exercise? - Page 2

That certainly is a full day.

Just a question about bed time. How old are your kids? Why do they go to bed so late? Maybe by putting them down earlier that will give you a little more "me" time. (just a thought).

Right now you can start with the basics: portion control, healthful eating habits, smart snacking, etc. Decrease your caloric intake and see how that will affect you. While doing that, make sure you are upping your fiber intake as well as your water consumption. Switch from white starches to whole grains and whole wheats.

AVOID THE JUNK FOOD AISLES AT ALL COSTS!!!

If you have it in the house, you will eat it...so DON'T BUY IT!

Pack a lunch for work every day. ....try to avoid going out for lunch and dinner. Monitor closely what you intake.....and again, make smart decisions.'

Maybe once you have that under control you can maybe try walking on your lunch break. Start wih a half mile walk, then a mile, then a mile and a half and then two. You could maybe even make this a team effort and get some colleagues in on it with you! DON'T FORGET TO PACK YOUR SNEAKERS !!!

I just started getting up at 5am to workout. I found that my day
was so busy, it was easy to skip if I planned to workout after work.
I have more energy during my day now and I sleep better!

Can you walk in your lunch hour? I used to do that, now I am so busy at work I dont get lunch everyday.
But I workout at 7pm. I make dinner 6pm, set it up ad DH manages, plus he has some time with the kids, once they are settled eating dinner I work out for 30-1hr.
I use DVD's in my bedroom, I use Jari Love, The Firm, biggest Loser Workouts, and Tae bo, I get bored easily, so I keep moving it around. I order DVD's from netflix and then return them when I am bored with the workout!

These are great tips for people trying to fit in exercise for whatever reason.

When I was a SAHM, I used to exercise to tapes (aerobics, step aerobics, etc.) and eventually we got a treadmill.  I would do it when I first woke up. The girls would either play in the basement with me or watch a TV show.

When I started working fulltime, I found the ideal time for me to work out was immediately after work and on weekend mornings.  On the workdays that I exercise, I have an easy dinner or one pre-made that I just pop in the oven.

I have always made exercise a priority.

If you replied before, has your answered changed?  Anyone have anything new to add?

If he won't do bath time, maybe fit in something while dinner is cooking on the days where you just throw something in the oven and have to wait. Then there's always the fun choice... get up at 5 instead of 5:30 and get a 20 min workout in before everyone is up.
Do you have any equipment in your house? If not, keep an eye on craigslist, we bought a recumbant exericse bike for $50 off there a few years ago and it's been great for a quick workout.
I would also definitely schedule some "me" time on the weekends when your dh is home. Make it a priority to work out on Sat and Sun, then you won't feel so bad when a couple days go by during the week and you haven't had time.

I never thought of this but I could go for a walk during bath time.  I haven't had the energy to get up at 5am.

I would do one of the 30 minute workout dvds, you can squeeze that in somewhere. That is what I do. Something like The 30 Day Shred or Turbo Fire, they are high intensity so your time is spent wisely.
