baby's eyes roll back

A friend of my mother's has a baby (a month old, a twin) whose eyes frequently roll back into its head until you can see the whites. My mother was very concerned and mentioned it to the family who said that they would ask the doctor the next time that they went. I told her that I would check the internet but couldn't find a thing about it. Has anyone ever heard of this happening?

Gosh, that would concern me, too, but maybe it is just kind of like the eyes that float for the first few weeks because they don't focus. Maybe it is something just as simple. I hope so.

Does the baby do anything in particular when this happens??

Some children do that when having a seizure.

Is it when he's sleepy or very relaxed, like eating, especially nursing? If so, it's normal. I use to call mine my "devil child".:D It will go away. If it's when baby is active, then have it checked out to rule out seizures. I've seen many babies have this during a relaxed time.

My daughter used to do that when she was tired, nursing, or even sucking on her binkie, heck she is 2 and if she is really tired and going to town on that dang binkie she does it!

I would definately talk to your ped about it but my younger son does this and always has, exactly in the same circumstances like desertmom mentioned, when he's tired, really relaxed etc

I have a 2 week old and when she is sleeping her eyes open slightly and you can see her eyes roll back. I think when they are sleeping it is one thing but if they are active it iis much more concerning. My opinion anyways! I will ask the pediatrician tommorrow at her appt and see what she says about it.....Post the response I get

Not to totally worry you, but my friend's son used to do this, and his was diagnosed as a mild seizure disorder...I would urge your friend to check it out, you never know...
