If you have it, sprinkle some shredded cheese on top and bake another 10 minutes. I serve this with applesauce, kids and husband love it.

I cannot wait to try this, just bough some cheap hot dogs yesterday and I have hamburger already in the freezer. Just need to pick up tomato sauce and tater tots.
The ideas on the thread have been really great.
I do not have any myself only because i do not track the cost of my meals, but I have been inspired to do so and see how much we spend on an average one.

Garlic-Brown Sugar Chicken:
Chicken_Legs&Thighs(cheapest cuts I can find) enough for your family
One can lemon-lime soda, 1/4c brown sugar, 1/4 cup soy sauce, couple minced cloves of garlic...on low 6-8 hours or high 3-4 hours add broccoli and serve over rice...if you want it spicy add some cayenne or red pepper flakes.

Pumpkin Pancakes: (especially cheap if you carve your jack o'lanterns the day before halloween and cook 'em up the day after...those pumpkins are usually high water content so drain the mashed pumpkin before you freeze it)

Potato Pancakes

Tuna patties/Salmon patties

Shepherd's Pie: Any leftover's you have...ground beef, chopped up roasts/chicken/chops mixed with half a bag of mixed veggies and a flavor of cream o' something soup with a 1/4 cup of milk, top with mashed taters and bake til browned and cooked through.

Oh, and if you're family doesn't like leftovers, freeze 'em. If you wait a week or two they won't remember the last time they had it and voila, not a left over!

The chili dog recipe made me remember when my dad found a recipe for BBQ hot dogs. it was homemade bbq sauce and you put hot dogs in it. The first time he served it to us girls, we thought he was crazy. But it was great and we use to ask for it all the time.

Teriyaki chicken noodles

Marinate the chicken in the teriyaki for 10 minutes. Cook the noodles, drain and rinse in cold water. Drain again. Skewer the chicken and put under a hot grill. Brush with leftover marinade and keep turning until glazed, about 10 minutes. Heat a little oil in a wok.

Cook the ginger and garlic, tip in the veg and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add the soy, sesame oil and noodles and toss. Serve with the skewers, sprinkled with sesame seeds if using.

One meal my family LOVES is TAco Bake, it feeds a ton and is under $5!

Brown off 1lb of hamburger (buy it on sale, in bulk and save a ton! portion it into 1lb portions and freeze them) So around 1.99lb or less depending on your store.
To that add taco seasioning (right now .33 at Target!)
In another pan, make a large box of Mac and cheese according to directions $1.30 at Walmart for 14 oz box.
To that, add 1/4 cup of sour cream. ($1 for container at Walmart, so about .25 for this serving)
To bake, layer each ingredient in a baking dish, then top with Shredded cheddar cheese (I get these WICKED cheap after coupons at shoprite, so about .50) and Salsa ($3 a jar at Walmart, but only use half the jar) $1.50 or less.

Bake in oven at 350 until cheese is melted. SO yummy, this is a family favorite.

Of course this meal is even cheaper when you get the hamburger on sale, use the generic Mac and cheese or use coupons. If you buy the cheese and salsa, you can freeze the leftover for another meal.
